Tools and research

Discover MCP tools for financials, adjusted measures, KPIs, guidance, and sources.

Discover tools

After connecting your client, let it discover the server’s tools and input schemas. The calls below illustrate the workflow; they are not terminal commands.

Start with coverage
search_companies(query="ASML")get_company_coverage(ticker="ASML")get_data_freshness(stale_only=false)

Resolve the company first. Check available datasets and periods, then request only the records needed for the question. Tool availability does not imply complete data coverage.

Analyze operating margin history

Example question
Compare ASML’s operating margin across the annual periods available. Show revenue, operating income, currency, sources, and missing values in a table and chart.
MCP tool calls
get_income_statements(ticker="ASML", period="annual", limit=5)get_financial_metrics(ticker="ASML", period="annual", limit=5)

Operating margin is operating income divided by revenue. Preserve missing results and gaps in charts. Do not convert missing revenue to zero or infer an unreported margin.

Explore adjusted measures

MCP tool calls
get_income_statements(ticker="MC", period="annual", limit=1)get_apm_metrics(ticker="MC", period_end="2024-12-31")

LVMH is an example of a company with issuer-defined alternative performance measures (APMs). The tool returns labels, concepts, values, periods, and currencies. Keep the original label and inspect the issuer’s definition before comparing measures across companies.

An adjusted or recurring measure is not interchangeable with an IFRS statement line item. Do not describe two differently defined measures as a reconciliation unless the source provides one.

Check KPIs and guidance

ToolInputsUse
get_operational_kpisticker, period_end, kpi_family, limitAvailable sector-specific operating measures extracted from issuer extension tags.
get_forward_guidanceticker, metric_family, guidance_period, date_gte, limitAvailable management outlook records extracted from announcements.

These inputs are optional; omitting the company allows a bounded cross-company query. Discover the live schema for defaults and supported values.

Follow filing sources

MCP tool call
get_company_filings(ticker="ASML", limit=5)get_sec_filings(ticker="ASML", form_type="20-F", limit=5)

The company-filings tool returns indexed report references, source URLs, periods, content hashes, parser quality, archive status and superseded-report identifiers. Match a statement’s filing ID to a report ID, and inspect missing archives or superseded records. The SEC tool provides additional filing metadata and primary-document links for supported cross-listed issuers.

The MCP does not currently search arbitrary report text or extract sections such as Item 7. To analyze management commentary across reports, your agent must open the original documents with a suitable browser or document tool. Cite actual passages; label summaries and derived calculations clearly.

This is a selection of tools. Discover the connected server’s complete list and schemas, and check coverage and provenance before interpreting results. Workbook and expensive artifact creation are disabled in the initial hosted beta.
